When you have lived with pelvic pain for a long time, explaining your history to another practitioner can feel like a big task. You may have several concerns at once, or previous treatments that have not answered your questions.
Consider making a short summary of your symptoms, previous assessments and treatments, and the activities that matter to you. Include concerns you would like to discuss, such as pain with intercourse, low back pain, bladder pain or bowel symptoms. You do not have to decide in advance whether these concerns are connected.
Ask about the purpose of any proposed assessment and the available alternatives. At Redfearn Physiotherapy, internal pelvic assessment is offered only when indicated and with ongoing informed consent. Alternatives, including real-time ultrasound imaging, are available.
Your goals might include a more comfortable daily routine, understanding symptoms during activity, or returning to something you have been avoiding. Bring those priorities to the appointment so they can inform an individualized plan. The assessment is an opportunity to discuss what physiotherapy may offer and what questions remain.
New clients can choose an initial pelvic floor appointment in Jane. The assessment is 45 minutes and costs $165; no referral is required.
